Prolapsed Uteri Complicated by Chemical Corrosive Agent

Abstract
The study is about 30 cases of vaginal and uterine prolapse admitted to Presby terian Medical Center, Chonju, during the period from January 60 to December 1968 where chemical cauterization had been applied.
T he results are summarized as follows:
1. The incidence of vaginal chemical cauterization among allpatients with prolapse was 1.2 ja 2. The peak age incidence was in the third and fourth decade. 3. In the relation between the parity and the chemical cauterizationof uterine prolapse the peak incidence was 7-9 parous.
4. 28 out of 30 cases showed third degree uterine prolapse. 5. The complications observedwere as follows:
vaginal stenosis hindering delivery 18 cases
hematocolpometra 2 cases
tetanus 7 cases
6. In 23 out of 30 cases surgical treatment was done successfully.
7. The mortality rate was 6.7% contributary to tetanus, the percentage being low- as compared to other study results throughout Korea.
